Study in Australia just got easier with these new regulations

Great news for students wanting to pursue higher education in Australia from July 2011, The Australian government announced new regulations for the Australian Student Visa recently.

Under the new regulations the assessment level for India has been made 3.

This will benefit students while applying for the Australian Education in the following areas
• Documentation evidence
• Financial evidence
• Sponsorship evidence

All in all this is an excellent outcome for students who wish to pursue higher education in Australia from July 2011.

Student visa assessment levels

The Australian student visa is education sector specific based on your principal course of study.
The Australian visa system rates countries on a risk assessment level scale of 1 to 5 where assessment level 1 represents low risk, while assessment level 5 represents high risk.

Effective April 2011, the assessment level for India will change for the higher education sector.

The higher education sector comprises of
• Bachelor degree
• Postgraduate certificate
• Postgraduate diploma and
• Masters by coursework only courses.

The new assessment level for India for the higher education sector (visa subclass 573) effective April 2011, is assessment level 3

How will the change in assessment level affect students from india?

Documentation Evidence

The assessment level change will benefit the prospective students for evidentiary requirements in terms of documentation needed for a student visa application.

Financial evidence

Under assessment level 3, finances need to held for a minimum of 3 months prior to the date of lodgement of the visa application.

** Additional expenses need to be evidenced for student dependants (spouse and children)

Sponsorship evidence

Under assessment level 3, sponsors may include:

• Applicant (self)
• Parents
• Grandparents
• Spouse
• Brother / sister
• Uncle and aunt (Immediate brother or sister of applicants parents)
• Bank loans (education, personal, overdraft)
• Other (extended family, in-laws)
